Datasets for Learning Part 2 - Lakes, Rivers and Waterside Structures

Thus, for Part 2 of our Datasets For Learning series, we shall introduce some of the popular datasets relating to lakes, rivers and waterside structures (dams and lighthouses) that are frequently cited in student projects.
Our community site, rlist.io, is a treasure trove of useful datasets for almost any topic in the world. These datasets have proven to be very handy learning resources for students to use in supporting and substantiating their school research projects.

1. Dams Dataset

dams
User Sam Drake has a pretty solid dataset on 100+ largest and tallest dams around the world. His dataset covers different metrics of a dam, including its installed capacity, its height, its structural volume and the volume of the reservoir of water impounded by the dam.

2. Lakes Dataset

User Simple John shared a dataset of 130+ deepest and largest lakes in the world. The dataset covers the maximum depth, surface area, water volume and the longest length of the lakes. The world's largest lake is the Caspian Sea bordered by Russia, Turkmenistan, Azerbajian and Iran, while the deepest lake in the world is Lake Baikal in Russia.

3. Rivers Dataset

User Simple John also contributed a dataset of the longest 220+ rivers in the world. The dataset covers the length, drainage area and discharge rate of the rivers. Based on the dataset, the longest river is the Nile river system of Africa.

4. Lighthouses Dataset

The dataset of 30+ lighthouses is contributed by user Black Cap , covering both the heights and maximum ranges of the lighthouses. The tallest lighthouse in the world is the Jeddah Light of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
